After so much tedious effort spent walking aimlessly around school, smiling at faculty members and engaging in petty small-talk and smiling some more, I was finally openly acknowledged on my bearded, manly face.
Not by the attractive twenty-something that works in the development office or the youngish cute recent college grad that works in the lower school, but by the sprightly Latin teacher in her late fifties--a person acutely described as 'bright-eyed and bushy-tailed'-- who was all but sprinting by me near the faculty lounge when she said: "Beard l
ooks good! Coming in nicely!"This declaration coming from the same woman who nearly had a heart attack of joy when I held the door for her a month ago, blurting out "CHIVALRY IS NOT DEAD!" as she ran up the stairs.
More to come...
